Gary Barlow, Please Shave

Gary Barlow, you are a handsome talented man. Even Robbie Williams can't touch you, and you can easily outshine Michael Buble. Plus, you did a great job being a judge in the X Factor. I enjoyed your criticisms, and you were sometimes funny.

BUT... I have a problem with your beard in your music video for Let Me Go. Your suit, don't get me wrong, looks like a million bucks. But sorry, you looked like old because of your beard. I just wish you could have shaved.

Still, my admiration of you as an artist doesn't change. Rule the World is still on replay.

To Tuck or Not to Tuck?

Here are some tips to heed.

- T-shirts are best left untucked.
- Long-sleeves that extend below your pants' zipper are better tucked.
- Collar-less shirts or three fourths are always untucked. That said, choose the right length when buying these shirts.
- Polo shirts that you're planning to pair with a nice pair of shirts can be tucked for a sophisticated look. BUT... if you're thin, choosing the best size for these shirts is a must. Also, don't forget to add a belt.
- Long sleeves for your office attire should always be tucked.

Here are other guidelines.

If you want to tuck your shirt, note that not all pants are good for tucking. Choose a pair that you can wear below your pelvis, but one that is not low-rise.

Beach Fashion for Guys

I love going to the beach, especially if it's white sand, and if the other beach goers are cool.

What should you wear at the beach? Here are some style notes and tips.

- Take off your shirt. Your fit self is stylish in itself, so before your trip, commit to a workout and get fit.

- Ditch the triangle. Unless you're a kid, exchange your triangular trunks into board shorts.

- Your board shorts shouldn't be too long. Long shorts are not in style anymore. Go for board shorts that are one or two inches above the knees. See image for a good example.

- Don't wear fake or obviously fake sunglasses.

- Don't apply deodorant unless you're playing beach volleyball or partying at night.

- Don't wear a fishnet shirt.

Here's a great board shorts.

Most Important Tip When Going for a Sockless Look

There's something cool, yet sophisticated about a sockless or no-socks look. If you have no idea how to get started, here are some combinations to try:

- jeans + white long sleeves
- grandfather's pants + suspenders + a-shirt
- khaki pants + polo shirt

Here's a warning though. Not everyone can pull off the sockless look.

To make sure that you don't end up with a tacky or trying-hard look, here is a powerful tip.

- It's all about the pants and shoes.

Your pants or jeans should be slim fit and cut to level with your ankles. (For grandfather's pants, roll it up to ankle level if it works for you.) As for the shoes, go for leather loafers like these Florsheim loafers.

Aviator Sunglasses are Always in Style

If you're confused which shades or sunglasses to buy, go for aviator sunglasses. These are classic pieces and will never go out of style.

But above all, they go with all types of face shapes -- whether you have a square jaw, an apple-shaped face, or a circular shaped face.

These shades are perfect when traveling. Although I have to say I don't want to wear them at the beach.

Want some inspiration? Here's Tom Cruise in Top Gun.

BUT... never ever buy a fake eyewear. People can always tell and you won't be confident wearing it anyway. Also, go for the classic frame and the black lens. Go Ray-Ban! Like these...

Nice Jeans, Lincoln!

For those of you who are keeping up with The CW's The 100, you may already know who Lincoln is.

But for those who don't, here's a very short introduction.

The 100 is a TV series set in a post-apocalyptic world. It tells the story of 100 teenagers who were sent down to Earth to see if it's survivable. Not only did these teenagers discover that the Earth is survivable, but they also discovered that there are "others" inhabiting it. These "others" are called "grounders."

Lincoln lives in what looks like a cave (or hole), and I assume the rest of the grounders do, too. I don't think they have the sophistication to create jeans. LOL. Nice try, costume designer. Nice jeans, though!

Tackiest Red Carpet Trends, Guys Edition

In my previous post, I put out a list of classy male celebrities who seem to do no wrong when it comes to styling themselves.

Now, I'm doing the opposite, but instead of focusing on the "who," I'm targeting the "what."

Here are some of the tackiest red carpet trends / styles I've seen on TV (or Youtube).

- too many bling aka the pimp look
Only P. Diddy can pull this off. The rest are trying hard to show off their money.

- Sneakers + suit
Yup, even though you're Justin Timberlake.

- Dressing up as girls (unless you're a drag queen)
You think it's funny? I ain't laughing.

- Bare-chested and super hairy chest
Yes, Simon Cowell, I'm talking about you.

- Grills
Listen up Madonna, Katy Perry, and Nelly, only Ramesses III can pull this off.

When and When Not to Shave

I look young for my age -- or so everyone thinks and says. So if I want to look my age (or older), I don't shave my beard and mustache.

BUT...as you know, at some point, an unshaved beard or mustache gets ugly and dirty.

Case in point: Stephen Amell. There's no doubt that this guy is insanely handsome. But there's something he can't pull off, and that's a long beard.

Using Stephen Amell as an example, you'll look good with a beard or mustache only up to a certain length, and it's not really that long. As a rule of thumb, if your facial hair start to fly away or grow in opposing directions, it's time to shave it.

SHAVE IT!

Now here's another case: Ramin Karimloo.

Men of Style - These Guys Got Class

We all know this: you can't buy class. Put in another way, just because you are a celebrity doesn't mean you automatically have class.

Sure, you can wear that expensive Armani suit to the Academy Awards, but the result may not be what Mr. Armani himself would have in mind.

That said, I'm putting out a list of guy celebrities who I think are so classy (or cool if you prefer this word) that they can pull off anything.

Hall of Famers, of course, are P. Diddy and David Beckham.

How to Hide Your Man Boobs and Beer Belly

Man boobs and beer belly can be the result of two things -- age and lack of discipline.

But okay, you have them. Now that? While some beer bellies can't be "hidden," some cases can still be. Here are some tips.

1. Stomach in always, especially when standing. Note though that this can affect your breathing.

2. Avoid t-shirts or polo shirts with a thin fabric. Examples include a polo shirt made of Lycra.

3. Avoid muscle shirts.

4. Avoid wearing the strap of a messenger bag across your body.

5. Wear long sleeve shirts instead.

How to Remove a Callus - A Simple Trick

Rough hands can be a turn-on to some women. In fact, rough hands can mean responsible hands. You work hard, you do you're own laundry, and you wash the dishes.

But callus? That's a different story.

While you can always run to the nearest spa to take them out of your hands and / or feet, you can take care of them yourself. Here's a simple trick.

- Soak your hands and / or feet in water until your skin gets soft, or if you notice that the callus gets white or pale.
- Get a heavy-duty scrub (the green one) and gently scrub the callus away. Do it gently now or you'll peel more skin than necessary.
- Pat your hands / feet dry, and then apply petroleum jelly or baby oil on the callus.
- For callus on feet: In the morning, when you go to work, put on some petroleum jelly before you put on some socks.
- Do these until the callus is gone.

Sweat Much? Put On Some Undershirt

On hot days, we sweat buckets. While sweating is a normal biological response, it isn't sexy especially if you're not working out, jogging, or if you're not Stephen Amell.

Did you notice that some guys soak up their shirt in sweat? Check out their back, front, and pit areas and you'll know what I mean.

If you're one of these guys, here's what you should NOT forget to do: wear an undershirt. That's right. Never trust your deodorants. Some of them don't work, and some work at first but fail you down later.

Now, there are two general types of undershirts -- a cotton t-shirt and an a-shirt. Choose the former. Sure, a-shirts look sexy but if you have a lot of sweat glands in your pit areas, it's best to wear a white shirt.

Tip: Hanes is the best.
